    • Boys Physical Education classes in grades (9-12) are REQUIRED to pass eight semesters in order to graduate.
Gym Clothing- Students must dress for Physical Education class unless instructed otherwise by Mr. Flickinger or Mr. Spencer.  T-shirts, athletic shorts, tennis shoes, and athletic socks are proper dress for the class.  Students may wear sweat pants or wind pants, and a sweatshirt or wind breaker if we are going outside.  Please always dress for the weather.  Jean shorts, boots or any other non-athletic shoe will NOT follow proper dress code, and therefore result in a "0" for the day.  Also, all clothing worn must not have any innappropriate language or graphics on them, and students may not wear the same clothes for Physical Education as they are wearing in school that particular day.   During our Swimming Unit, students will be required to wear a swimming trunks.  Speedos will not be allowed.  We recommend student's invest in a pair of goggles.  It will make the swimming experience so much more enjoyable!

Showering- Any student wishing to shower after class may bring a towel, soap, shampoo, deodorant etc. with them, but must take them when the period is over.  We will give students no less than five minutes to shower at the end of class.  We recommend that EVERY student brings deodorant with them to class.

Jewelry-  No visible jewelry will be permitted to be worn during class.  You can see Mr. Flickinger or Mr. Spencer if you wish to leave your valuables in the office, or you can bring your own lock to class, but must take the lock off prior to leaving. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS for safety purposes.

Doctor's Excusals-  If a student provides a medical excuse signed by a doctor, the class does not need to be made up.  Excessive absences due to a medical condition could lead to an "S" grade on the nine week grade reports. This means that the student did pass the class with a satisfactory grade.  This will NOT hurt the student's Grade Point Average.  In many instances, doctor's will allow students to do something adapted for class, so they will not get behind.

    2013-2014 Grading Requirements (UPDATE)
    • The only GRADED skills test that will be taken each year by the students will be the mile run, which will be worth 100 points.  If the student completes the run with good effort, it will NOT hurt his grade.  If the student fails to participate, he will receive an "I" on his report card for an incomplete, and will not pass Physical Education until he completes the run.  We are trying to get an idea of the students fitness levels.  Every other class will be worth 10 points, and will be assessed upon the student dressing for the class, participation, and positive attitude of the student.  WE WILL NOT GRADE YOUR SON ON HIS ATHLETIC ABILITY, HOWEVER STANDING AROUND AND WATCHING IS NOT PARTICIPATION.

How To Figure Out Your Physical Education Grade

     1. TAKE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PHYS. ED CLASSES YOU HAD DURING THE NINE WEEK PERIOD, AND MULTIPLY BY 10 TO GIVE YOU TOTAL POINTS.  (FIRST NINE WEEKS ADD 100 POINTS FOR MILE RUN)

     2. TAKE THE NUMBER OF CLASSES THAT YOU DRESSED AND PARTICIPATED IN, AND MULTIPLY THAT BY 10.  THIS WILL GIVE YOU YOUR TOTAL POINTS.  (EXCEPT FIRST NINE WEEKS WITH MILE RUN 100 POINTS.

     3.  ALL CLASSES NOT MADE UP BECOME ZEREO'S WHETHER IT WAS AN ABSCENCE OR A NON-DRESS. THREE STRAIGHT NON DRESS CLASSES WILL RESULT IN AN AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION.  EACH ADDITIONAL NON-DRESS WILL RESULT IN FURTHER DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
