Governor Tom Wolfe declared the week of October 9, 2017 Agriculture and Food Careers Week. The Agriculture/Horticulture Program in the high school was the showcase program for this year’s “Beyond the Blue Jacket”.
State and local officials, Ag/Hort students, Derry FFA Alumni, PAAE, local agriculture professionals and Penns Manor FFA members and Agriculture teacher, Jerry Hughes, attended the program in the audion where the Proclamation from Governor Wolfe was read and presented by Scott Sheely, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, to Roy Campbell and Carly Rippole, Derry Agriculture/Horticulture teachers. Keynote speaker was Mike Kenney, operations attorney at Rice Energy and former Derry FFA member. Rick Ebert, president of the PA Farm Bureau was a guest speaker also.
Tours of the Ag/Hort Complex and a round table discussion followed the program.
