    Miss Smeltzer is the Director of Media Services.  She is responsible for the daily operation of the High School Library, serving grades nine - twelve.  In addition to her library responsibilities, Miss Smeltzer teaches Introduction to Speech and Research as a part of the required freshmen block.
     
    She was the varsity assistant softball coach for 13 years before switching to the varsity assistant golf coach position in 2006. She is currently the Head Varsity Golf Coach (6 years). She is a former Chrysler Long Drive Championship regional finalist in the women's division. In addition to coaching golf she is actively involved in the Trojan athletic department serving as the PA announcer for the  girl's basketball and boy's baseball teams.  
     
    Miss Smeltzer is also a certified INPAX Academy of Personal Protection trainer for the school district. 
     
    Miss Smeltzer received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Secondary Education in Communications from California University of PA and her Masters of Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh.  She also participated in the Educator in the Workplace program through St. Vincent College where she shadowed journalists from the Greensburg Tribune-Review. For three years, 2008-2009, 2009, 2010, & 2010-211 she was a part of the Classrooms For the Future initiative through the PDE. Miss Smeltzer was the DASD CFF Technology Coach.
     
    Miss Smeltzer enjoys writing in her spare time. She is a contributing writer in the 2002 & 2005 editions of Glencoe's Earth Science, Geology, the Environment, and the Universe.  Her work has also appeared in The Book Report.  She has also freelanced for the Latrobe Bulletin, covering sports for the DA Trojans and Greater Latrobe Wildcats.
     
    She is also the website manager for soap and Tony Award nominee Broadway actor Ron Raines who played "Alan Spaulding" during the final 15 years of the soap opera Guiding Light. An avid fan, Miss Smeltzer took advantage of an opportunity to meet Mr. Raines in New York City during a GL fan club event in 2006. At that time she told him if he ever wanted someone to do a website for him she would love the opportunity.  Several months later he called upon her to create Ron Raines Online.com. Their friendship has led Miss Smeltzer on several adventures including a trip to Boston to see the world famous Boston Pops, meeting actress Leslie Uggams, and seeing the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington D. C. Raines recently appeared in Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's Follies for which he received his first Tony Award nomination. Raines continues to appear across the US with symphony orchestras.

    Miss Smeltzer was recognized in Who's Who Among American High School Teachers in 2003 & 2004.
     
    Miss Smeltzer was recognized as a 2006 Keystone Integrator.
